Servants

God Calls You Servants
Metaphor: Servants
Concept:   SERVANT in The OT, the identification of someone or a group as "Yahweh's servant" or "My servant" for those especially faithful to God.
Lev 25:55 for the Israelites belong to me as servants. They are my servants, whom I brought out of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
1 Kings 8:23-24 "O Lord , God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.
Ezra 5:11-12 This is the answer they gave us: "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago, one that a great king of Israel built and finished.

Ps 113:1 Praise the Lord .Praise, O servants of the Lord , praise the name of the Lord .

Isa 65:9 "I will bring forth offspring from Jacob, And an heir of My mountains from Judah;
Even My chosen ones shall inherit it, And My servants will dwell there. NASU

Today we do not have a healthy understanding of the term servant in its biblical usage. I recommend reading a Bible dictionary for more detail. In our study context the term servant is a positive one in that it identifies us as servants of the one true God, the great “I am that I am’ the Lord Host etc.

In comparison to all other people or groups who do not serve Him and therefore do not and cannot have a relationship with Him nor all of the benefits that come with it. These benefits include eternal life that begins the second we accept Christ as Lord and Savior in our lives. So we can rejoice that we are servants of the Most High God and not the devil or the world system or our flesh. We are not to be the servants of or come under the control of none other as we freely yield ourselves to Him and enjoy the blessings he gives beginning with freedom from sin, fear and the works of darkness.

Father we freely yield ourselves as your servants to You, Your word, Your Spirit and Your Ways. Help us to grasp what a wonderful and joy filled reality this is for us!
