Ex 19:6, And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests, a holy nation [consecrated, set apart to the worship of God]. These are the words you shall speak to the Israelites. AMP
This same concept is applied to the Church in 1 Peter 2: 9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God's] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. [Ex 19:5,6.] AMP
'Using the Old Testament liberally, Peter ascribes to the Christian community the titles applied to Israel. The conclusion is inevitable that here the church is described as the new Israel, although the thought perhaps is not that the church has supplanted Israel, but that God's people should be what the church is now, namely, a community not bound to one nation or blood, but encompassing all nations and all peoples.' From the USB Bible handbook
Our new life in Christ is one bought with the blood sacrifice of Messiah, the spotless Lamb of God. Because of this we are consecrated, set apart from this world to worship God. Although we are in the world we are not of the world and therefore the world does not understand or honor us for who’s we are and for what He has made us in Him. Jn. 17
Today O Lord may we walk and live according to what we are in you and what we have in you, holiness and consecration unto God. Let me live as a full participant in your Holy Nation.
Acts 17:28 For in Him we live and move and have our being; as even some of your [own] poets have said, For we are also His offspring. AMP
