People of His Inheritance

God Calls You the People of His Inheritance
Metaphor: People of His Inheritance
Concept: There are two key concepts here that we have looked into previously, which require an additional look.
Deut 4:20 But the Lord has taken you and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be to Him a people of His own possession, as you are this day. AMP

Our first concept is that we are a People of the Lord’s own. This people, community or family is selected based on the foreknowledge of God as to our eventual submission to the will of God as seen in Romans 8:28-30.

The second concept is that of inheritance. While we have detailed this in previous devotionals we are reminded that God Himself chose us to be the ones who inherit His kingdom and who are to live eternally in relationship with Him sharing all that he is and has forever.

These promises are not based on our works but on His grace at work in us so that are willing to be willing for what He designed for us to do and be. In this truth and mystery we rejoice that the One true God and Creator of all desires even more than we do to have a lasting, permanent relationship with us and that His immeasurable resources are at work to make all this possible. We rejoice that He continually is at work even when we miss the mark.

Father help us to make Philippians  3:13-14 our commitment today!
13 I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. Amp

May this be in our live today, so that we might be active participants as The People of Your Inheritance!
