God Calls Us a Holy Nation

Metaphor: Holy Nation

Concept: We are called to be a people group or group of people much like a nation, ruled by God, His Word, Empowered by His Spirit living lives made Holy each day by His grace and the shed blood of Jesus as a result of  the resurrection.
Although this passage can be specifically directed at Israel through the work and ministry of Jesus it is for all who will call on His name.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God's] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.  [Ex 19:5,6.] AMP

Nations and people groups have distinguishing language, traits, codes, and belief systems. For the follower of Jesus the Messiah the word of God provides these as each believer is empowered by the Holy Spirit to live them out.

Our lives must be lived by, shaped by and directed by these even more than the culture or family we live in or are from. If we are to please God in all our ways let us carefully examine them in the light of His Word and fulfilled by His grace.
