God Calls Us Salt of the Earth

Concept: Salt can be used as a preservative and was for many centuries. The righteousness of God in the life of the believer acts as a preservative for God’s goodness, righteousness and purity in our world.

Matt 5:13 You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality), how can its saltiness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men. AMP

I had been through Bible College, pastured twice and was in seminary and one day heard a local pastor with no Bible College training say, ‘God’s righteousness makes us just as if we never sinned.’ That was the most down to earth understanding of God’s righteousness I had ever heard.

Today everyone wants us to cut back on salt in our diets but I say bring on the saltiness of God’s righteousness in our lives! We live in a world that is in desperate need of God’s righteousness/saltiness in our lives!
