God Calls You the Church of the Firstborn

Metaphor: Church of the Firstborn
Concept: The idea of the firstborn does not have the significance today that it did in Jesus day. In many cultures even some today the firstborn receives the greater share of the inheritance, is perceived to have more strength etc.

Heb 12:23. And to the church (assembly) of the Firstborn who are registered [as citizens] in heaven, and to the God Who is Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous (the redeemed in heaven) who have been made perfect, AMP

In this passage Jesus is the one being referred to as the firstborn. In one place He is referred to as the unique Son or prototype. Jesus is the one in whom the law and the prophets are fulfilled. The many details that are fulfilled in His coming, life, ministry, death and resurrection all point to the fulfillment of God’s promise in the Garden of Eden and make a way clear for us to have an unhindered relationship with God the father.

Reread today’s scripture and remind yourself of God’s work in your life which makes it possible for you to be counted among the Church of the firstborn. No rejoice that your name is written in the lamb’s book of life. Now put a spring in your step and go enjoy this new day God has given you!
